Kim Isabelle, Abstract Expressionist
As a self-taught abstract expressionist, I explore the emotional terrain of the human condition through an intuitive process guided by the arc of my own becoming. Although I did not take to traditional study, I sought art in everything I encountered. My career as an art director in product development kept me immersed in the creative process and conceptual thinking. When I retired, life afforded me the space to create. The simple act of holding the brush again filled my spirit, a transcendent response to something greater than myself and a reminder that the world needs art in all its forms. Every stroke of my brush and mark on the canvas carries the weight and wisdom of my exploration, where shapes rise and fall, colors interact and collide, and textures hold the memory of emotion and time.
From my studio in the foothills of Connecticut, I seek the light within humanity by confronting the shadows that shape it, transforming pain into power and darkness into grace.
My work is deeply personal. Each brushstroke carries the imprint of vulnerability, resilience, and truth. The layered textures reveal both the weight of lived experience and the grace that rises from within. You will find the tension between despair and renewal, stillness and motion, loss, and gratitude.
Through color, movement, and texture, I invite viewers to pause, feel, and recognize glimpses of themselves through the language of abstraction. I celebrate the shared beauty of being perfectly imperfect, where the most resonant art lives deep within the human spirit and the earth that not only grounds us, but unites us.
